Australian Wings Academy offers an integrated Commercial Pilots Licence (CPL). The CPL teaching duration is 32 weeks, holiday duration is 8 weeks, the total course duration is 40 weeks. This includes 154 flight hours and full ground theory school. Successful students will receive the (Civil Aviation Safety Authority) CASA Commercial Pilot Licence. Requirements

Be 18 years or older on completion of your flight training to gain your commercial pilot licence

Flying Component 

A minimum 156 hours flying is required by CASA to complete the course incorporating Dual Training hours with an Instructor, Solo hours and Night Flying. Course hours are tailored to suit the needs of each individual student in order to comply with their local aviation authority.

Airline Transport Pilot Licence


AWA offers a full time comprehensive Airplane Air Transport Pilot Licence (ATPL) theory Ground School course. This course is designed specifically to help students master the 4 ATPL subjects that most other students deem as "challenging" while also providing tutorial servers for the remaining 3 easier-to-understand subjects.

The course duration is 15 weeks, the first 4 subjects listed take a total of 12 weeks whilst the last 3 subjects take 3 weeks.
Monday to Friday, 8am to 4.30pm. Saturdays may be required from time to time. Students are expected to complete nightly homework and revision during the course.

AWA provides practice exams before students attempt the CASA Cyberexams.

The course covers the following subjects:
• Flight Planning
• Navigation
• Aerodynamics and Aircraft Systems
• Performance and Loading
• Air Law (tutorial)
• Meteorology (tutorial)
• Human Factors (tutorial)

The pre requisite is a Diploma of Aviation (current) Commercial Pilots Licence with Instrument Rating)

Our fees include all course notes and practice exams – you will not need to purchase any texts. You will however be required to provide your own set of Airservices Publications and Charts.

  • AWA is a Commonwealth Register of Institutions and Courses for Overseas Students (CRICOS) provider. This allows us to bring international students into Australia on an extended visa.
  • As an RTO / CRICOS registered body we are subject to many additional audits and requirements over and above those imposed on non registered school by the Australian Civil Aviation Safety Authority (CASA). This has led to us developing a very complex matrix of competencies in order to satisfy all of the regulators allowing us to quickly reconstruct the program to satisfy the special requirements of international students.
